About KRC
KRC welcomes any person of any age and any level of ability who is interested in horses.
KRC aims to:
- Promote the development of each individual's skills and knowledge of horsemanship.
- Expose riders and their horses to a variety of equestrian disciplines and activities.
- Provide opportunities for riders with inexperienced horses to expose them to a variety of situations which they may expect to meet in a more competitive environment.
- Prepare those riders, who are so inclined, for more formal competition.
- Provide an opportunity for people of all ages, with a common interest to interact in a spirit of friendship and good sportsmanship.
Kellyville Riding Club was founded in 1978 to provide facilities for the many people involved in equestrian activities in the Hills District. The club is one of the very few that welcome riders of all ages - a fact that we believe is a key to the growth of our membership. The central location allows many members to ride safely to the grounds without the necessity of owning a horse float.
KRC recently relocated to new grounds at Clarendon. We are
currently developing:
- full size sand dressage arenas;
- showjumping arena;
- sporting area; and
- 3 cross-country courses.
There is a canteen, amenities block and plenty of parking.
The club meets on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, at
the club grounds - Gate 5, Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon.
Each month at least one training day is scheduled, where riders receive expert tuition from our qualified instructors. Three sessions are usually held between 9.30am - 1.00pm.
On each training day, riders may experience dressage, jumping or perhaps sporting. Periodically lectures, seminars and schools are arranged. Interspersed with training days are competition and activity days.
Each year KRC hosts a number of open dressage days, show jumping days, a one day event and a breed and hack show.
The club endeavours to cater for the expressed interests of the members at the time. Sub-committees assist the executive committee in the organisation of these days. To enable members to get to know each other and to assist in the running of the club they are required to serve on one sub-committee.
Regular newsletters help to keep members informed of up and coming events. The KRC web site also contains information about activities and events.
General meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month and all club members are invited to attend.
At each training day members will be awarded turn out points for presentation of both horse and rider.

- The Kellyville Riding Club Inc meets at the club grounds, Gate '5' Racecourse Rd, Clarendon on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. (From the 2nd Sunday in February to the 2nd Sunday in December.) Members should refer to the newsletter for current events.
- Gates open at 8.30am and riders must be ready for "Turn Out" at 9.20am. The grounds close promptly at 2.00pn and any members anticipating a delay should make arrangements with the Training Day Co-ordinator beforehand. Riders must pay the ground fees before "Turn Out". A stamp will be put on your hand as proof of payment. Riders missing Turn Out will not be awarded points unless a satisfactory explanation is given to the Pointscore Officer. Members arriving late should not interrupt the first session, but join in at the second session. A membership badge must be purchased and word by each riding member. A replacement badge must be purchased if the member does not have their badge on training days.
- Current grounds fees are $20 for the first riding member, $10 for the second and $5 for the third, with a maximum of $40 per family.
- General meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 8.00pm at the Vineyard Hotel, Windsor Rd, Vineyard. All members are welcome to attend.
- Points for Turn Out, attendance and participation will be recorded by the Pointscore Officer. High scorers will be awarded prizes at the end of the year. Points for these prizes will be based on attendance at working bees, committee meetings and participation in club activities and not on performance gained in Open or Closed events. Eligibility at restricted events such as show and gymkhanas are determined by attendance.
- It is a condition of membership to KRC that a representative from each family must perform 1 canteen duty and 2 other assistances at the club. This can be either further canteen duties or working bees and assistance at open events. If these requirements are not fulfilled, membership may not be granted in the following year.
- At training days, riders are not compelled to take part in every session. If a group agrees, by consensus, the scheduled activity for that group may be changed to a different activity with the same instructor. However, if a rider leaves a group he/she should seek the permission of the instructor once the lesson has started. As a safety precaution and as a courtesy to others, riders not participating should either tie their horse up or school them away from the organised activities. THE CROSS COUNTRY COURSE IS OUT OF BOUNDS TO UNSUPERVISED INDIVIDUALS DURING TRAINING DAYS.
- Wet weather arrangements. The decision to ride during inclement weather will be made by 7.30am. Please phone the Training Day Co-ordinator for a recorded message regarding wet weather cancellations/postponements on training days.
- Whilst moving around the club grounds, no horse should be cantered or galloped as this may upset other horses or be dangerous to those on foot, especially children.
- Dogs are not allowed on the grounds.
- Hard hats must be worn by any mounted person whilst on the club grounds. Please note that ASA approved helmets are compulsory for all training days and events.
- Head stalls and lead ropes must be brought to tether horses during breaks. No horse should be tied up by the reins.
- The instructors or committee have the right to refuse any horse to participate. The instructor or the committee have the right to ask for any troublesome horse to be removed from the grounds. Stallions are not permitted at training days or closed competition days.
- Membership fees and completed membership form are due on Sign-On Day. (However, if you have difficulty paying the full amount by this day, an extension can be offered - full payment is due by the 2nd Sunday in March. Please contact an Executive Committee member in this matter.)
- Members riding at the club should obey the regulations laid down by the NSW Motor Vehicle Act and should conduct themselves in a way that will preserve the club's good name.
- Eligibility for Closed Gymkhana. The horse and rider must have attended at least 4 training days, a representative of each family must have worked one session in the canteen, worked at one working bee and assisted with one open or closed competition. Each rider may only ride one horse at the Closed Gymkhana. The horse must have been to 2 training days.
- The Committee is empowered to close membership during the year if deemed necessary and a waiting list will be taken.
